Port of Last Call

The Problem: Being volunteered to come up with the theme and invite for our agency’s annual holiday party, and to make it work with a budget of roughly $7.

The Solution: Since we were having the party on the banks of the Mississippi River at a venue with “landing” in the title, a nautical theme only seemed appropriate. For the invite, we decided to use some old public domain Carnival Cruise footage from the lawless era known as The Early 90s. We interspersed a few new shots from around town, wrote a script, and had one of our colleagues—who assured us he could do a passable Robin Leach accent—lay down the VO. Apologies to Robin Leach.

Look, I get it. This one is really dumb. And I could make up a reason for its inclusion with something like, “the ability to stretch a budget with creative solutions,” which, sure. That holds water. But really I threw it in because it was a lot of fun.
